Styrofoam Legislation SY: 2016-2017
In Fall 2016, Andrea Calderon from the Office of Sustainability came to meet and speak with the AFSIVA Green Club about the negative effects of Styrofoam. Students dialogue different ways we would get the word out about banning Styrofoam. Several of the students were able to sign-up to be a part of different legislation events to ban Styrofoam.
Installation of Plants that Conserve Water
Students created a garden plot for our indoor garden space that would utilize very little water in Spring 2017. By installing an assortment of succulents and aloe plants this reduced our water use and also improved the air quality within the school building.
Painting Storm Drains
On November 15, 2017, Carmera Thomas the Program Manager from Healthy Harbor Initiative Chesapeake Bay Foundation came in to spray-paint storm drains with The Green Team members around the school building.

BMORE Beyond Plastics Styrofoam Rallies
The Green Team attended 3 styrofoam rallies organized by BMORE Beyond Plastics. The 1st one was located at Baltimore City Hall and took place in Fall 2015. The 2nd one was located at Baltimore City Hall and took placed on February 9, 2018 . The 3rd one took place in Annapolis for Lobby Day on February 15, 2018.
