Improving Indoor Air Quality SY: 2016-2017
Green Club Members researched different plants that would improve the schools air quality and planted them in our indoor garden, Spring 2017. Base off their research, students was able to discovered that our indoor air quality was more polluted than outdoor air and determine what type of plants they should plant. Peace lilies, snake plants, ferns, aloe, golden pothos, english ivy, and chinese evergreen plants was planted to help improve the school air quality.
SoWhatElse Vegan Cooking Program SY: 2016-2017 & 2017-2018
One of our Green Team instructor, Ms. Thomas was able to form a partnership with SoWhatElse to bring a Vegan Cooking Program to AFSIVA. This partnership was formed in Fall 2016 and is currently taking place during school-year 2017-2018. In this program, students cook with fresh produce donated from GrowingSoul and learn the importance of healthy eating. They also gain more knowledge about different produce and most importantly a needed life skill, cooking. Students are allowed to take any extra produce home to experiment with cooking new dishes.
